Position Overview:

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Executes scheduled priorities in efficient (Throughput) and effective (Scrap & OTD) manner in order to satisfy customer needs and requirements and fulfill business goals and aims. Delivers effective instruction to direct reports and partner department staff. This individual is expected to perform job responsibilities according to the company’s core values and in accordance with applicable employment law best practices.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Inspection Operator Level 1 job functions
  • Inspection Operator Level 2 (Team Lead) job functions
  • Confers with management personnel to carry out production and quality control standards, budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plans and directs production activities and carries out production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations, cost factors, labor allocation, and effective coordination of lunch/break schedule.
  • Coordinates production activities with technicians, maintenance, materials, tooling, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Consults with Engineering and Quality personnel relative to necessary modification of processes and equipment in order to improve production through product quality and efficient labor usage.
  • Submits effective communication regarding issues or impasses so that appropriate corrective action may be enacted.
  • Conducts investigations to resolve or effect settlement of personnel disputes and refers unresolved issues to management to resolve as needed.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data in computer inventory system, (IQMS) relative to physical inventory management. Investigates and resolves discrepancies.
  • Communicates emergency issues with management and actively seeks out solutions to issues related to production floor in a timely manner.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the success of the organization

  • Training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

  • Team Leads
  • Changeover Team
    • Material Handlers
    • Set-Up Techs
    • Process Techs
  • Operators Level 1 (indirect)

  • Ability to assess training effectiveness & provide direction to correct issues

  • Knowledge of current production SOPs, forms, procedures, and practices
  • Pull reports, assess data, and take appropriate actions
  • Proficient with ERP System (IQMS) and scan gun navigation
  • Mastery of all Inspection Operator (1), Team Lead (2) and related responsibilities
  • Ability to research and solve routine to complex issues and problems, including inventory, and provide information that leads to root cause analysis and appropriate remedy

  • Strong decision-making skills, including ability to assess available resources when direction is absent
  • Ability to understand partner department functions & able to back fill or assist on an as-needed basis to the level of training provided

 Required Qualifications:

Education, Training and/or Experience                   

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school –or –
  • Minimum of three (3) years manufacturing supervisory experience  –or –
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Manufacturing experience required, Plastic Injection Molding experience preferred

Language Skills                   

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills                  

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability                   

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills                   

  • Database and Inventory Software (IQMS or similar)
  • Internet Software
  • MS Office

Other Skills and Abilities:                                           

  • Forklift Certification
