Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality management system; action-driven role to ensure product and process conformity to meet customer expectations; proactive leadership and decision maker for daily quality management; able to deploy training, teach, and mentor others.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Management Position
- Base Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
- Company is open 24 hours/day. Three shifts Monday-Friday
- Position requires working closely with all production shifts; which will require flexibility to work with off shifts as needed
Essential Job Functions
- Champion & process owner for ISO 9001 QMS, experience with other QMS standards a plus
- Continuous monitoring and mentoring of ISO policies and procedures to maintain compliance
- Customer and Supplier contact and interaction regarding quality concerns such as non-conformances, RMA’s, Corrective Actions, and Customer Complaints
- Provide proactive communication and collaboration with customers to help the organization provide white glove service
- Utilizes external and internal audit findings to maintain and upgrade quality management system
- Carries out, contains, corrects and prevents actions associated with internal and external quality issues
- Assists manufacturing operations with optimization utilizing appropriate lean manufacturing techniques
- Analyzes the performance of the organization (internal and external quality failures) to identify trending issues and takes action with the support of data
- Defines and monitors the status of the calibration system for inspection equipment
- Implements adequate receiving, in-process and final inspection criteria and audits the execution
- Manages the proper usage and maintenance of inspection equipment, identifies gaps in measurement device applications
- Identifies and manages Quality improvement projects; liaison/collaborator with other internal departments in support of the success of the organization
- Directly supervises, inclusive of delegation, the management of quality, and quality related shop floor, personnel
- Participates as an active stakeholder in the APQP process, inclusive of but not limited to; specific part quality plan development, PPAP/FAI documentation, process validation, and operator work instructions.
- Oversees the Preventative and Corrective Action activities. Confirms that proper resources have been allocated and tasks are performed in a timely and complete manner
- Follows up on delegated tasks and projects to ensure work has been completed correctly and to the specified timeline set
- Provide progress updates and concerns to the Director in an organized manner
- Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the success of the organization
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Planning, developing and implementing strategy for quality management and development to meet agreed organizational performance plans with agreed budgets and timescales
- Planning, assigning, and directing work: evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Responsible for the interviewing, hiring, training, discipline and termination of direct reports
- Establish continuous improvement processes for department as well as individuals within department

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge in dimensional measurement and gauging including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T)
- Experience with recognition of manufacturing and product non-conformances (cosmetic, dimensional, fit/form/function) to ensure escapes of defects to the customers are prevented. These would include faults specific to the injection molding process.
- Able to communicate and work well with others to resolve issues and provide timely feedback with mutual respect and company core values

Education, Training and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s or technical degree in engineering, business/statistics or related technical field
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years in Quality Management related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Experience in ISO 9001
- Prior experience in the plastics industry and/or injection molding a plus
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Reasoning Ability
- Able to think critically and problem-solve using root cause analysis
Computer Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or similar software
- Proficient with email correspondence, and online navigation including interacting with customer databases
- Experience with utilization with ERP System preferred
- Experience with CMM/Measurement Equipment (Polyworks) Software a plus
- Experience with engineering/blueprint drawings of components and assemblies
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in using hand-held measuring tools for product inspection and testing
